7 Smells Snakes Don't Like, and How to Use Them Around Your Home
Snakes are among the animals that cause great anxiety in many people, especially when they appear near the home, yard, garage or garden. It is often claimed that they have an extremely developed sense of smell, but in fact the way they perceive smells is quite different from humans.
Snakes don't rely solely on their nostrils, as we do. They use a special sensory organ called the Jacobson's organ. It helps them pick up chemical particles from their environment. When a snake constantly sticks its tongue out and back, it is essentially "collecting" information from the air. These particles are then analyzed through this special organ. That's why it is often said that a snake "tastes" the air to understand what is around it.
